| The arms as depicted include a crescent placed on the eagle's breast with an enhancement to the former crescent counter compony Gules and Argent (gold and white) in gratitude to the Carniolian noblemen and knights who came to the Emperor's assistance during the siege of Vienna. The crescent was an addition to the eagle in order to distinguish it from the eagles displayed on the arms of other Austrian provinces. |
